Past week I sent a message about having problems with a sis 630 graphic card in a portable. Well, I still haven't fix it. The only solution I was given at this time is to cut features and use it with a maximum of 8 bit resolution, no acelleration, no nothing... Searching and searching, I've found a url: http://www.linuxhq.com/kernel/v2.3/patch/patch-2.4.0- test11/linux_drivers_video_sis_sis_main.c.html that talks about this. As I'm not a programmer right now, I saw that the link contains stuff written in C... Do I have to copy the content of this link and rename it as "whatever".sis.c as 'wild' c code? Any programmer out there to tell me if this "driver" is useful, doesn't cut features (I'm supposed to have a 32mb graphic card and to use it with 8 bit res. it's a crime!!!) and if so, how to make it work in my portable? Thanks! Also, I've visited the SIS website, and I've found that at this url: http://www.sis.com/support/driver/linux.htm you can find the linux drivers that sis have. I didn't found nothing useful. any other tips on how to manage with a portable motherboard full of sis630 chips (vga, soundcard, etc) and make it usable for suse 7.x? Thanks again! Luz F.
