Ok all this talk about true type fonts and I want them. I'm looking for the difinitave answer. . .what is the best way to get them in KDE and Netscape. Do I need xfstt or is there a better solution?? If so where do I get it or what do I do? I've been looking since I read all this but I can't find it. Also if I need this to make my system look good and readable why isn't it on the CDROMs?
Yes, use xfstt from ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/X11/fonts/. I just use the fonts from all the free sites found on Yahoo, but if you have some already, make sub-directory like "/usr/ttfonts" as xfstt looks there for one. After compiling and installing, do this...... You have to run xfstt twice: xfstt --sync xfstt & then: xset fp+ unix/:7100 <--- Not sure exactly xset fp rehash Now you can use the fonts in apps like Gimp.
