I have an external SATA3 2TB Western Digital HDD which is formatted (at the moment) in ntfs.
When I switch it on Dolphin opens this HDD and I can see all the files it contains.
But unlike what I got in 12.2 when I start mc (Midnight Commander, my much preferred file manager) mc doesn't 'see' this HDD. In 12.2 it used to be mounted in /media/<name of HDD> .
In /etc/filesystem I have 'ntfs' as an addition to the list of file systems.
So, why isn't the HDD mounted in /media as in the past?
Any clues, please?
Since I nearly always mount my externals manually, and in runlevel 3, I'm unfamiliar how in X auto-mounting does or should work with eSATA devices. MC only fails for me if I forget to mount first. :-) Nevertheless I'm going to take a stab in hopes of getting you going somewhere and say it's likely to do with udisks and/or udisks2. On 12.3 you may have one installed and need the other either also or instead.
