This is a followup to the last message. It turns out that the attachment is actually in MS Word 2000. (Not WordPerfect.) It looks like the formatting has a large left-hand margin, and the words on the right run off the page. Somehow, I managed to get the file up on OO so I could read it all, and if I varied the width of the window, the sentences would reformat so all the words were available. BUT if I hit the "print" button, the file was still truncated, and the right hand side of the page was gone. I can't seem to find a way to set margins in OO--maybe that would help. Or if there is a "reformat" command, what is it? Is there a handbook for OO that I could get at the local bookstore? (I really don't want to print 300 or more pages on my local printer!) I would be happy to forward the nasty file to someone who would tell me how to fix it, and then hopefully I could fix all files that seem to be nasty. On another note, a friendly fellow named Bandicot (I think) said try to use KWord in KOffice7. I can find no reference to that in either of the manuals, or by doing whereis. So I went to Google, and there is a KOffice 1.2.1-7 RPM for RedHat. Is this the program I should try? Will the RH RPM work OK on SuSE? (I thought that RH did not support KDE???) I've been playing with Linux for at least 7 years, and I'm still a newbie. So sue me. --doug
