Well . . . not exactly. For the same reason you (Richard) mentioned (couldn't get my system back to its former state), I did reinstall SuSE overnight. My main reason for giving up on KDE 3.2 was that I could find kmail (kdenetwork3-mail-3.1.95.rpm). When I tried to restore my system, I couldn't find the 3.1.5 version, either. It seems like kmail or kdenetwork3-mail rpms have vanished from the face of the earth. I guess those who are using kde3.2 don't use kmail.
If you don't bother reading the replies you get, what's the point of sending questions?
KDE 3.1.5 is still here: ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.1.5/SuSE

I guess I must have been tired when I first attempted. I installed all the relevant packages from a SuSE mirror site. Found kmail in the kdepim3 package. Took ages to configure the panel (kicker) but now everything is up and running, and I'm really pleased. Thanks again to all. Eddie
