There is no error message: what I wrote is exactly what happens when I try to perform a Yast2 update. If there is no registration required, where does the code come from to launch a dialog, which then launches a browser? Do you think I'm hallucinating?
What do you have in Yast 2 Repositories icon (Configured Software Repositories is what the window is titled)?
If you have nothing there, you have to add repositories there before you can proceed. Your screen shots skip this step, and don't show us what you are doing to launch this whole process. Instead the screen shots pick up after you have already encountered the error message.
I have a number of repositories set up, and have successfully updated on this installation for the past 2 months, both from the updater applet and from Yast2. To launch the whole process I click the 'Online Update' button in the Yast2 Control Center window. As I indicated in another branch of this thread, by disabling the 'tumbleweed:raw' repository this problem goes away, so for the moment I'll just do that (I'll be updating the whole distro next week anyway). However, clearly a problem with one repository should not produce such unhelpful and confusing output. While this is not a serious issue for me right now, the problem is repeatable on my system if I re-enable the troublesome repository. I'm more than willing to collect any information that would be helpful if someone wants to try and understand wtf happened. Just let me know.
