I had vmware 7.1.4 on openSuSE 11.4 kernel 3.0.7. I just updated to kernel 3.1.0 and to vmware 8.0: same problems and same solution. VMware is working perfectly, but I could install the modules only after applying a patch. Regards, Francesco On Tue, Oct 25, 2011 at 8:35 PM, John Andersen <jsamyth@gmail.com> wrote:

Which VmWare ? 8, or 7.1.5?
There has been a small bugfix release on Vmware 7.1.5, probably the last it will get, and the only reason this was done is Vmware knows that Vmware 8 is still shot full of bugs.
But I never had any problem running 7.1.5 on OS 11.4 on 2.6.37 kernel.
