I still have freezing problems :( It only seems to happens with certain apps. I happens a lot for example when I use Konqueror to browse the web. I never had a freeze while I was using Mozilla. Op woensdag 13 november 2002 22:05, schreef Z_God:
Thanks a lot all. I'll try out NVidia's AGP and use Konqueror a lot. (Somehow I never had the problem with Mozilla.) I'll mail again if my comp still freezes.

I have had the same issue. In my case, I traced it to the combination of AMD and Nvidia.
This is a paste of a reply I made to others discussing Nvidia issues:
It took some time, reading README files from NVIDIA, and testing for me to get my tnt2 card stable. With my system (AMD1.4, Asus a7a266 mobo) I was not able to use AGPGART and have a stable system. Once I started using the nvidia driver, my locking problems went away. To do this, I added: Option "NvAgp" "1" to the Device section. From Apendix D of the README:
Option "NvAGP" "integer" Configure AGP support. Integer argument can be one of: 0 : disable agp 1 : use NVIDIA's internal AGP support, if possible 2 : use AGPGART, if possible 3 : use any agp support (try AGPGART, then NVIDIA's AGP) Please note that NVIDIA's internal AGP support cannot work if AGPGART is either statically compiled into your kernel or is built as a module, but loaded into your kernel (some distributions load AGPGART into the kernel at boot up). Default: 3 (the default was 1 until after 1.0-1251).
Perhaps this will work for you too. Hope this helps. Give it a shot, stop X, make the chages to you XF86Config, restart X and see what happens. Drop me a note and let me know if it works.

Sometimes while I'm brosing with Konqueror or reading mail with Kmail, X completely stops responding to my actions, the clock at the bottom right of my screen also stops ticking, but I'm still able to move my mouse. I need to reset my computer to get I back to work. I found out that X used 99% of my CPU by logging using a SSH client on another computer. I also couldn't use the reboot command to reboot my system using SSH. My specs: AMD Athlon 1GHz 512 mb ram Geforce 2 MX (I'm using the lastest NVidia driver from YOU) Via686 onboard audio Otherwise my system seems stable. I've had the problem with SuSE Linux 8.0 and 8.1. Any idea how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance!
