Yes, exactly. They are copied from one server to the other server and removed from the original server. Maybe creating separate seamonkey profiles with only one mailbox/profile could prevent this. Might be cumbersome to use it, and would not prevent moving files within the same server.
I did some testing between a server I run in house and Gmail and dropping Gmail on to my in house imap server new mail folder immediately triggered my spamassassin which sent them to spam.
