Ok, I'm going to guess at this. (stuff that I would probably try....) I'm not sure about the power management thing. I've never had great success with suspending my Laptop with Linux (although it getting better. But my network adapter goes crazy afterwards; so typically I only suspend when I'm running on batteries and away from a network...) About the message that says that "8139too" is unknown. Did you recompile your kernel? Make sure that the kernel module is where it should be (/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/drivers/net/8139too.o). If it is there, try running "depmod".... A few thoughts: -- perhaps the module is not unloaded properly before suspending, maybe that is creating a problem. -- try using the "ifconfig" tool, see if it recognized the network interface. -- Find out what the "sit" interface is used for. (I think it's either something used by "wvdial", or "diald".). Make sure this isn't causing the problem. You may need to test this some one to establish some sort of pattern. Hope this helps. Hi,
I do need pcmcia - ad find that in 8.0 my net configration /intermittantly/ fails to recover from a suspend. If it was alway then I would understand. THe problem seems to lie in net-configuration not the card as the card powers up Ok. THe only clue I have so far is that
ifup-eth-pcmcia-0 / ifup eth-pcmcia both return error messages complaining that the interface does not exist ( see /etc/sysconfig/network ). Console log gives me the following errors :
May 30 09:22:21 mossdog ifup: No configuration found for sit-pcmcia sit0
May 30 09:22:07 mossdog cardmgr[466]: config error, file 'config.add_kernel' line 322: unknown device: 8139too
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can work around this?
Cheers
