Can anyone point me to a site for Apt Version 0.5.4 as an rpm?
I am still feeling my way with linux and am reluctant to try installing apt from a tar file without a step by step guide.

It's hidden on the site but the link is
http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/
rigth above where it lists the components list for 7.3, 8,0 , 8.1 it says click here to get .5.4. It is in the software installation part.

Also download the apt-devel and synaptic while you're there
Thanks for the pointers, it seems that I had got to that site but had problems with trying to download with Mozilla and couldn't see the "rpm". I went in with Konqueror and have now downloaded all successfully. Thank you kindly for the advice. John
