I don't know about others, but "meet" (jitsi) in my laptops uses so much CPU that the sound stutters (with several people in the room). On the much more powerful desktop computer, the load is minimal.
I just tried google meet between desktop and laptop, and I did not need to install anything. Load is high, but with one user it works fine, same as jitsi. More options. It has captions!
I did not try zoom, it needs registration and I did not want to bother. But if the app uses less load, it would be interesting for me.
I have that issue of high load on Skype, it sends my laptop fan whirring up to maximum, which pretty much no other activity does. Wire works better, no load issues for me. Unfortunately they try so hard to flog their paid Pro version you wouldn't know they have the free client downloadable, but if you scroll to the bottom of the homepage at wire.com and click the Download link you'll find the Linux appimage. gumb
