database tools. StarOffice is in the [pay] series on the SuSE CD's.
Hmmm, I like that methadology. Use the sql for back end , and somthing like staraoofice as the front end for the nice screens.
StAr Office is a real system hog , what other options are there besides staroffice and pgaccess. Anything that can through together real quick and easy forms ect.. That will keep users from changing everything and srewing it up ?
While I like SO, I have only 64MB RAM on a P166 and SO is slow. If I had a faster machine with more memory I would probably keep it. But, I am removing it, since kmail and kfm do so well and are very fast. I have purchased Corel Office 2000 delux as a replacement, since I already had WP8 and liked it very much.
How extensive is the staroffice front end ? What is it script based ?
You can use SO as your desktop, if you wish. It is a total package if you run it in that way. It has a macro language similar to Word's. You can access the system scripts by using the macro name as the password, lowercase.
Anyone used applixware witha sql back end ? How is it ?
Can't help you there. <snip> JLK -- __ _ / / (_)__ __ ____ __ * Powerful * Flexible * Compatible * Reliable * / /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / *Well Supported * Thousands of New Users Every Day* /____/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ The Cost Effective Choice - Linux Means Business! -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
