Message-ID: <008301c04ede$ab8e2660$0e01a8c0@ddg.int> From: "dennis pantazis" <dpantazis@telocity.com> Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 02:33:02 -0600 Subject: Fw: help: PPP+ipchains/masq misbehaving greetings: i am having a pickle of a time getting the following to work. i am on a suse 6.4 box, with the appropriate updates installed (ppp, ipchains, wvdial) to be a dial out gateway for my office LAN. the kernel is the stock 2.2.14 if it matters. ipfwd and ipmasq are in there (i know because if i manually execute scripts everything works). i have successfuly used wvdial to dial on demand to establish pppd. the problem i am having is that EVEN though i have ipchains rules written into my ip-up script, and in the appropriate sections of ip-up that is ip-down, they don;t take. i have tried to put sleep statements in the script to try and wait for the system to 'catch-up' to the things like the re-ifconfigs and re-routes to take place and settings to take effect. but nothing seems to work. if i manually execute the rules sets, then everything works. i can not figure out what the problem is. i would greatly appreciate everyone/anyone's help on figuring this out. i have enclosed a few files/documentation: ppp.txt which is a compilation of kernel logs and ipchians -L i think if you look at this, you will see what symptoms i am seeing. ip-up script which is my hacked version of the stock script that installed w/suse and includes my rules fwscript which is a vanilla script i generated from packetfilter.dynip.com for ppp0 that works to get traffic in/out TIA dennis pantazis dennis@pantazis.org <p><p><p><p>
