All, Indeed after pulling in the kernel of the day, I have successfully done 12 snapshot/backup tests successfully. I have had no failures. This is the first time I've had any level of consistentcy with any of the SUSE 2.6.x kernels with this feature. With 10.0 I was lucky to get it to work 9 times out of 10. I have 3 filesystems on my box I backup this way each night, so if anyone wants more data ask me in a week or two. FYI: Monitoring the LVM list, the past problems were generic LVM issues, not SUSE specific. Apparently several lvm snapshot related fixes recently went into mainline. You are right, that is the latest kernel, but if you are feeling bold you could add this repo ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/people/aj/10.1-kernel-update-test
or a mirror of it.
