Recently I noticed that my kde desktop [/home/scn/] has been mostly replaced by nautilus.
What's happened is that you're still running KDE, but nautilus is also running and is configured to manage your desktop. It is doing this because, at some point, when running Evolution, you chose the Help option or something similar, which launched Nautilus (in the same way that other apps will launch Konqueror under Gnome - both these are nasty and we users should really be able to control which file manager is launched!).
The way to get out of this is to run nautilus from a terminal to bring up a nautilus window. Then, go to Edit->Preferences, choose the Desktop & Trash panel and deselect "Use nautilus to draw the desktop". Et voila!

The next step is to switch to Mozilla for mail/news/calender/addresses/etc. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I tried Evo once and while it was nice, I'm partial to Moz.

**Thanks so very much Franklin. "...Et voila!"** (sorry about the duplicate) John, I've been missing a lot... I don't see where Mozilla has a calendar/task list. Please point out the obvious (that's not so obvious to me lately). Bernd
