With Sun also making a side-deal with AOL on this matter, I am sure there will be definite support for the UNIX-variants, especially Solaris, and I am sure the benefits will shower upon Linux too.

www.cnet.com says that the deal has been struck and now netscape and aol have joined with sun. I remember years of frustration with aol over not making versions of its online software for OS/2 and NT specifically. CIS made OS/2 versions for quite some time.
I just do not have a warm, fuzzy feeling with the tentacles of AOL wrapped around netscape. Kinda wonder what direction (win32?), that future browsers will go?
One hopes. AOL does not enfuse me with the sense that Steve Case will come out solidly for supporting a variety of operating systems. He could not even support a major enterprise operating system. It will be interesting to see how much impact Sun's side deal has on building a web browser since Sun also has one. I read that aol will keep its deal with MS for MS internet exploder as part of its base level AOL package. As I said, there are a lot of potential scenarios one could embrace. I would ask why AOL would keep MSIE IF they are purchasing Netscape? -- Michael Perry mperry@basin.com ------------------ - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
