Honestly, I think you'll be best off by using an OpenVPN VPN between your two networks. OpenVPN can be set up to route all traffic through the tunnel (incl. DNS requests). I find this approach is simple and painless. OpenVPN can take care of the routing and other details, too.
You might want to consider it.

I agree that VPNs are on the agenda for parts of my overall network but not in getting the server to act as a wireless access point to the one network perhaps J
