I just started using OpenSUSE last night. When I boot from CD and choose 'install' monitor gets turned off. The resolution auto-chosen is 1280x1024. I fixed this problem by choosing Text Mode. Anyone has same issue and how to solve it in future installation?
normally it should read the data fronm DDC-2B if I'm not wrong... in your case it might be the screen giving wrong info, the cable being broken (had once such a case) or the graphic card behavnig strange. Did you also try to enforce a lower resolution, like 1024x768?
Another small question, I have Pentium 4 and gets all i586 packages installed. So which CPUs use i686 packages?
There are only very few i686 packages available for openSUSE, mainly glibc. The difference in optimization is rather low and not worth any hassle. Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
