Sorry, probably i was not clear. I would like to re-use the setup stored in ~/.kde (kde3.5.10). Are apps configs, etc the same across different linux distributions?
Generally, 3.5.10 is compatible with the version in 11.1. Some of the programs were 'ported' back from 4.x but most remain totally compatable. Other than backing up ~/.kde somewhere, (just in case), just install 11.1 with the 'OTHER' option then KDE3. If you choose to do an update, I think you may run into problems (I did). Be sure /home is NOT overwritten, reformatted or otherwise affected, eg, should be it's own partition.
