I don't understand this. Meaning, what can I do to make firefox use IPv6 and why exactly it doesn't?
You can configure your computer to prefer IPv4 or IPv6
After two decades of configuration, I don't remember what this machine is configured for. This moment I'm past bed time, so I don't remember where to check, either.
How to type ipv6-address and port number in URL bar?
That can be tricky. Best to use host names.
Ha! And which is the name of my computer? :-D Telcontar:~ # host isengard isengard.valinor has address 192.168.1.16 Telcontar:~ # It is an IPv4 address only. Not a surprise, I wrote the DNS entries, decades ago. I can not make the computers respond on IPv6 to names unless I write them myself in the hosts file or the DNS file, and I can not write them because they are dynamic.
Any reason you're using DHCPv6 instead of SLAAC for the LAN? Thanks to some genius at Google, Android doesn't support DHCPv6.
I'm not using anything. The router belongs to the ISP, they do the configuration and the choices. I have no idea what it does or how. I know my phone gets IPv6, both on WiFi or GSM.
Ok, I can find my own router address doing a traceroute6 to google or any outside address. The first line. Huh, will that be the external or the internal address of it?
Routers often use link local addresses.
Which can not be used in commands. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)
