I've finally in 12.3 gotten nepomuk to work without totally swamping my processor, and have found it to be quite useable, especially for indexing large code bases.
I'd like it to index ebooks, (mostly epub), but it refuses to do so. Does anyone know if there are plans for this or plugins needed, or what?
Hi John, epub indexing is supported with >= 4.11. There are also some other PDF improvements in this release afaik...
Is that KDE 4.11 or Nepomuk 4.11?
I noticed that 4.11 was releases on the 14th, but its not clear if/when this will be ported into OpenSuse 12.3, or if I have to wait till 13.
(There is a limit to how much danger I want to subject this particular machine to).
John, FWIW, I just upgraded my main desktop machine from KDE 4.10 to 4.11 using the KDE_Release_411 repository and it seems to be mostly very stable. I've had a couple of minor glitches where the plasma desktop has apparently crashed and automatically restarted, but this has not affected running applications nor caused any data loss. I've not tried deleting the usual suspect rc files and starting again because, so far, it doesn't seem to be worth the trouble. Then again, I've not noticed any huge improvements (in my particular case) between 4.10 and 4.11 either, except for KMail 2, which does seem noticeably better. For me, the upgrade was worth it even if only for that.
