Anyone was able to have his or her SBAWE32 working? I've recompiled the kernel putting the right IRQ and IO address and the midi programs don't find the instruments. Any help will be wellcome. Thanks.
Hi, First, you must get the /etc/isapnp.conf set up right to use the awe32 soundfont bank. I have a copy of a usable isapnp.conf for the awe32. If you want I could e-mail it to you. Also: If you want to install the awe32, you must apply the awedriver patch that is on the cdrom, then recompile the kernel with sound as module. You must enable "low level driver support" and do a few other things as specified in the awedrv docs. OSS will interfere with it, don't try both. To get the soundfonts working, you must put a line "sfxload synthgm.sf2"; or a similar line in your /etc/boot.local. It can be done, but it ain't a cakewalk. :-) I also found that my awe32 gets set up nicely with the default Suse installation, but it didn't support the soundfonts. It was just setup as a regular soundblaster. zentara -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
