I'm considering the purchase of an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo Scanner (USB 2.0) for use on my 8.2 box. Has anyone had any experience using this scanner and if so would you provide your thoughts on it.
Thanks,

The Epson Perfection 3170 Photo works great under Windows 98SE and Win2K and presumably XP and Mac 9.2.x and X 10.2.x. No drivers from Epson Kowa for Linux, yet.
"The Perfection 3170 Photo (aka GT-9400UF) is scheduled to be supported by "Image Scan! for Linux" in a future release. As to "when", We can only say that we will release when it is ready (just like the Debian folks do ;-)." was what they told me Sept. 3, '03.
Hope it doesn't take that long!

No experience, yet, using it under Linux, Mac 9&X, Win XP. Works very well under Win98/2K.

It also appears that Sane does not yet support this model scanner. Both IScan software from Epson and Sane support the 3200 model though, so you might want to consider your alternatives. Seems both the 3200 and 3170 have many of the same characteristics, except for the price. ;o) Sane url: http://www.sane-project.org/ Lee -- --- KMail v1.5.4 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.2 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...
