I can only say in my experiance the USA is still far and away the most sucessful nation in the history of the world; no other country even comes close.
Hmmm... just wondering... wasn't the same thing with the Ancient Roman Empire in their best years?
Successfull at what? Let's take Iceland as an example. A nation ruled by scandinavian masters for 700 years, during which time it has known no war. Had no defencive capability. Was invaded by Great Britain, who cleanced it off German decentant people, who have never been heard off since (hush hush, I'm not supposed to say this). Became an independant nation, by the hand of Americans/British from Denmark, so that it could become a base for Nato(American) naval forces to Guard the US from bad Europeans(Russians). Now, it knows wealth ... but dept so deep, it can never be free or independant. It knows crime, it never known before ... corruption, as never before. It's a success story. If you define success, in deceit, theft, crimes and curroption. There has been great success. And wealth, yes there has been great wealth ... but man does not live on bread alone. Never has, and never will ... morals are as much a part of mans life, as bread is. Even more so, that is why we are men and not beasts.
