Daniel, You could try: rpm -qa > tempfile Then grep or vi the tempfile for the package you are looking for and if found try your rpm remove command on the name that the query returned. IHTH, Lach Daniel Harris wrote:
Dear SuSE'rs, Having installed SuSE 5.1 on my machine I decided rather than being constantly helped by YaST all the time I would use rpm from the command line to install an rpm that I had downloaded from the net. This was an irc program...Hence to say I installed it and ran it ok. But hated it. Ok, so I read up on how to uninstall an rpm, (rpm -e <package_name>) but to no avail. "<package_name> is not installed" Even tried rebuilding the rpm database, (rpm --rebuilddb) And again tried to uninstall...grrr! Didn't work. So I thought I would try installing again...Then got a very sarky message saying "<package_name> package is already installed" I don't know if this is me or SuSE...But having heard great things about SuSE...I am starting to go off RPM's from this experience!
Please could someone set me straight...
