I use manual update (i.e. smart update; smart upgrade), so I do not know if it's the same thing... but for me the upgrade fails (SUSE 10.0) because it can not find the keys that have been used to sign the pakages. The only real remedy I got for it was to disable the signature checking. -- HG.
