Thanks alot, Martin. Any thoughts on a system that lost its rpm program/engine? How do I reinstall the rpm engine if I don't have the rpm engine? Thank You, Anthony On Thursday 01 November 2001 17:28, Martin Webster wrote:

I have a laptop system running RH7.1 with KDE 2.1.2 and KMail 1.2. I would like to have my current email from this particular system transfered over to another system which I'm going to install Suse 7.3 (KDE 2.2.1 ...). Please be informed that I also have many "filter rules" set so I would need that as well. a) Is it possible for me to just install over my RH system? b) Is it possible for me to transfer pertinent (???) files/directories over to a new installation?
Just backup your ~/Mail folder before installing SuSE and then copy the contents across afterwards. Also, copy ~/.kde2/share/config/kmailrc if you want to keep all your settings (mailing lists, filters, accounts etc.).
Disclaimer: I've not done this with SuSE 7.3 (will in next day or so) but can't image any problems between KMail 1.2 and what ships with 7.3.
