How much memory does RealAudio 5.0 require? I am not running Linux yet, but am going to build a computer and it will have whatever version of S.u.S.E. is available at the time. I'm looking at hardware and making sure it is compatable with S.u.S.E. 5.2. I'm trying to pick a sound card. Currently I have a Creative Labs 16 Wav Effects CT4171 4W amp selected. Will it work or would I be better off getting AWE32 or AWE64?
Following the excellent advice I've received right here at 'suse-linux-e@suse.com':
I've re-compiled my kernel for sound, and using 'isapnp', I've got my Creative Labs SoundBlaster AWE32 PnP soundcard working without using the OSS driver. (this works for the newer AWE64's also, per testimonies)
The benefits are:
1) better sound 2) RealAudio 5.0 works flawlessly
The OSS driver is flawed as far as RealAudio 5.0 is concerned. For all of the posters who have been suffering from the "it cuts out after only about one second" RealAudio 5.0 syndrome, this is the answer!

I have 32 meg of ram. I don't know if it will work with less, nor can I speak for any other sound cards, since I've never had any other sound card. ----------------------------------------------- Man's mind is his basic tool of survival!
