Hi all,
Can someone assist me to sort out a 100% CPU usage by FireFox. It happens with all 3.X versions. FF is unusable at the moment. I have searched and see that it has been a problem in most FF versions and Linux. I need an urgent fix. Our ERPII system uses Web Browsers (Web 2.0 & LAMP). The Windows users with M$IE have no problems, but it is banned in our company.
System: OpenSUSE 10.3 Linux ~ 2.6.22.19-0.1-default #1 SMP 2008-10-14 22:17:43 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux FireFox: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.3 Firefox/3.0.5
I do not believe Firefox is the problem, but a plug-in. My suspicion is acroread using nspluginwrapper (since I see you are using x86_64. I have seen that cause 100% and massive memory leak. That problem was so bad I have changed mine to open pdfs with Kpdf instead of Acrobat Reader (for both Thunderbird and Firefox, though it was mostly the plug-in causing the problems.
Hi Per, jdd, Hugo, Wolfgang, Joe, I thank you all for responding! OK; first I am going to test without any plug-ins to see if it improves. We will also deactivate plug-ins on the Windows machines. I will report the results shortly. Installed are: Adblock (Win & Lin), Beagle Indexer (was deactivated in Lin, not installed in Win), Deutsches Woerterbuch (Win & Lin), FoxStox (Lin), NoScript (Win & Lin), Print Context Menu (Lin) [Win=XP & Vista & Lin=OpenSUSE 10.3] TIA :-) Al -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
