For me it was 1) Make sure bios is set for EFI (not legacy) but NOT UEFI 2) Make sure when changing the boot order for the install, get an EFI USB selection and NOT a Legacy USB one... 3) Just be sure the EFI partition from (manufacturer, previous install, etc.) is size>=256MB and set to be mounted at /boot/efi
From there, all went fairly smoothly.
