Hi Hi I had somewhat similar experience with one ISA card about a year ago. I found that the ISA-speed settings in BIOS was just a bit too fast, and it started working when I adjusted the ISA-bus speed a bit lower. Maybe worth trying... Jaska.
My three year old legacy ISA sound card which worked perfectly fine with Windows95/NT4/98 and RHL 6.1 and SuSE 6.3 and 7.1 seems to have started behaving a bit erratically now.
1. In windows, it plays mp3s fine. But while watching big divx/dvd movies - it gives a lot of noise. And so it also does while I resize a huge window - may be it happens when the CPU/RAM is very busy.
Has anyone experienced this? What could be the reason?
2. The card gets detected very well with pnpdump and also initialized with isapnp well - seems so from the messages. But when loading the sound module cs4232.o for it [the same module which used to work perfectly well], modprobe says that no isapnp cards found. init_module : no such device.
Has anyone faced similar problems? Any experience or recommendations? It could not be fault of the ISA bus as I have even switched the buses - with the same result. And in windows, when the system is not loaded, mp3s play perfectly fine.
Do reply,
Rohit
