I just got an Alton M-590 pc-100 motherboard. It's got a SiS 6326 AGP 8meg video onboard.
I can't get it to setup right with xf86config, nor XF86Setup. XF86Setup will just give me blank screens, and xf86config will let me startx, but only in vga, 320x320 (or some ridiculous resolution), and the screen is HUGE and useless. The xterm fills the screen. Even with all the lowest vga settings.
Am I wasting my time trying to get this onboard AGP working? Can I slip my old trident PCI card back in there, and have both work? The SiS driver for win95 and NT4 both seem to work.
Any Clues?
that godawful resolution is 320x200, with a virtual screen (which probably isn't working) of 320x204. :) i saw it plenty when trying to get linux up on this box... i don't know how to get your online agp working, but you should be able to plug that old trident pci back in and have it work fine...maybe you could get a little switch box for your monitor, so that you can switch between the trident for linux, and the sis for windows, without having to mess swapping monitor cables and such when you wanted the other card. -derek "Winter's hateful battle raging on, Rocket's flying towards the glowing sun, Pollution fills the land, the air, and sea, Man prepares to meet his destiny...."
