I got lesstif-0.85.tar.gz and lesstif-current.tar.gz from ftp.hungry.com and I tried to compile it on a SuSE 5.1 machine at work. But I get error messages saying that it can't find X. What am I doing wrong? Has anyone done this on a 5.1 box? I know I can get a precompiled binary to run on that machine, but I would prefer to compile it myself. Also, I am not on site, to test out the machine to see if it works or not. I am working via a telnet connection. Thanks a lot. Regards, C. J. Tan On Sat, 4 Jul 1998, Michael Lankton wrote:

I always make a habit of reading Makefiles prior to "make", so perhaps I changed the install destination, although /usr/local is the de facto dir for install usually. If it's bailing on you during compile, paste the output when it bails and I'm sure I or somebody else will be able to spot the reason why it's choking. It's running fine on my 5.2 box.

I didn't use precompiled bins. I compiled everything. Can you tell me which source (tar) file you used as there are several.
