I've spent hours trying to resolve this issue. I've searched for a solution, found a couple, none appear to work. Received suggestions and recommendations from a very active person at @suse.de, still no luck. On a new install of SuSE 10.1, we all know there are problems with online update. I've tried various solutions, with the same result. During installation, online update runs and updates yast, therefor it restarts. There are a couple of interations of online update before the installation continues. Once the installation is complete, I have an icon on the taskbar that indicates there are two updates required. I run it and it says the updates are installed and the icon shows 'no updates available.' If I run online update from yast, it shows a number of updates available. When I select the accept button, the online update window goes away, without installing anything. If I reopen it, the same list of updates are listed. If I run yast from the command line, there are no errors displayed when I go through this online update scenario. I've been instructed to run the online registration. When I do, it pops up a browser window, I login and enter the activation key. I close the browser and the online registration window cycles back through the browser asking me to again activate. No help there. I've been instructed to add a new installation source from: http://www.novell.com/products/suselinux10/downloads/ftp/int_mirrors.html I've successfully done this before on other versions of SuSE, yet when I attempt it here, no matter which site I chose, I always get the same error: Cannot create the installation source Try again? No help there either. I'm at my wits end on this one. I've been using SuSE since 6.4 and rely on it as my primary Linux solution. I've got a number of clients running SuSE, but if I can't get this update to work on this box, I'll be looking for another distro. This is the most frustrating problem I've dealt with. I've re-installed on this same box 6 times, trying to get this to work. I can't upgrade any of my other boxes or my clients until I've resolved this issue. -- Until later, Geoffrey Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. - Benjamin Franklin
