KDE I avoid because of similar problems with qt-x11-free. Also it hogs the mouse and causes gpm not to work on a Sony Vaio.
I suggest that you find your CDs and reinstall xfree from them.
Well my idea was to install the new version because with my laptop the SONY VAIO I am having YUV overlay problem so I though that by installing the new Xfree86 version I will correct this problem (only a blue screen when seen movies or video from a digital camera). What do you suggests me to do? Anders Johansson wrote:
From looking at the patches in SuSE's version of X 4.3, it looks like the version you get from XFree86.org isn't complete. There's some licensing required, apparently, in the xdmcp wrapper thing. So you need to locate the patches from somewhere, apply them, and recompile at least the xdm parts of X11
Or you could get SuSE's precompiled, prepatched version
Or you could recompile kdm against your version of X, I guess there's something in the way of security you lose there, in that case
Were could I download the SUSE's precompiled prepatched version of Xfree86 4.3? Jose
