I have been using OpenSUSE 11.0 GM for a few days and am unable to use the "Install Software" feature as it is never able to use the package database. It always says that the database is in use by another program. I have gone through all the running processes and have killed a process called "packagekitd" which then allows me to use "Install Software." I looked at Bugzilla and this is listed as a bug (Bug #374043) but it shows fixed. It is definitely not fixed in two machines I installed OpenSUSE 11.0 on yesterday. Both have the same issue.
have you tried waiting some time (10 minutes or so) and then start "Install Software" again? After login, packagekitd indeed uses the database when checking for updates. If yes, and it didn't work, then it's most likely a bug and you should reopen. regards, m.
These are brand new installs, not upgrades. I am happy to reopen the bug if I can determine whether it is something unique to my installs or whether I am actually experiencing the bug.
Anyone else having a similar issue?
