The truth is that the kernel modules built with vmware.config.pl don't work (anymore) with SUSE kernels. What DOES work are the modules (avail. in the k_deflt-2.4.21-99 kernel that's already there) that are generated from the km_vmware source package.
That is, You have to reconfigure the right kernel modules (from km_vmware) after the vmware-config.
So, what you need to do is:
I can confirm that the previous post by "Catimimi" is correct. This post that I'm responding to has good info for when you've custom-compiled a kernel, but for stock kernels, you shouldn't have to do anything. When you run through vmware-config.pl, let it compile and then tell it NOT to overwrite the existing modules. This part has already been done (most likely just like the parent post's instructions).
