I have got MPlayer to play Quicktime - granted it is not a plugin for Netscape, but as a standalone it even plays the Sorenson3 Quicktime codec now (if you do a bit of fiddling following the instructions on the MPlayer homepage).
Try this plugin located at http://sourceforge.net/projects/mplayerplug-in/ in conjuction with mplayer.
I discovered that a couple days ago... Friday night actually. I've installed it but haven't really tested it yet. Thanks for the pointer though. There are a few MPlayer fans on the list here that may not have stumbled on this like yet. It would be interesting to hear their feedback on success or failure with the plugin. C.
