hello all, i'm using SuSE 5.3. i used to have my internet connection running wonderfully through kppp. but then i decided to configure an internet connection through YaST so that i could log on while in the console. well i went through all this and it didn't work. no big deal i thought i'll just go back into KDE and log on like i've always done in the past. so i changed the /etc/ppp/options (i think) back to #lock (as per kppp instructions) and logged on. so far so good, it looks like i logged on fine, everything went as it should. but when i tried to call up netscape it gave me the error ``unable to locate server foo.com server does not have a DNS entry". all the other browsers i tried gave similar errors. ok, so i went back into YaST and erased all that i had done in network configuration (it shows no device, no ip addresses, etc. just like you expect after a fresh install). i deleted the suseppp package and diald (for good measure). i jumped into /etc/rc.config to change it back as well as i could figure (i had to set the modem device to cua 3 - ttys3 doesn't recognize the proper IRQ whereas cua3 does; i'm going to fix this at some point). i changed every file i could to make sure it used dynamic addressing (change to "" or "0.0.0.0"). all of this to no avail. does anyone have any ideas of what i can do to get it all working again? it would seem like there is something that YaST changed when i attempted to use it to configure my internet connection, but i can't find what it might be. on another note my modem is currently pnp at cua3 IRQ 10. this works fine even w/o isapnp configured in Linux. i've thought about going in and disabling pnp on the modem and setting the jumpers to cua3/ttys3 IRQ10. ok at some point i managed to tell Linux that cua3 no longer looks at the default (IRQ 3 i believe) but could never get ttys3 see the IRQ at 10. if i manually configured the modem as i've stated, will Linux recognize the ttys3 at the new IRQ 10? if so then i can probably get an internet connection going through YaST in this manner, but i'd rather first get it working as i had it before. thanks, dave
 winmail.dat
