Live image content is extracted to the HD / SSD? (similar to a dd or unzip operation)

Or it downloads packages from the repos, just like netinstall does?

Antonio The Linux Kamarada Project http://kamarada.github.io/ They install what's on the Live image. Only if you enable the Update repos during install, packages will be downloaded. AFAIK.
