I think I once converted my collection or part of it to flac, but as none of my hardware players take it, I deleted the files and took the mp3 files only.
HW players in the past 5-8 years, usually do.
As for why? So you only need 1 copy of your files.
Most of the ones advertised as hi res on amazon will play flac since MP3 doesn't support hi rez.
Maybe, but my car CD player doesn't. I haven't tested flac via USB, though.
It's hard to find portable or living room players that don't support flac now -- especially since the storage issue is mostly solved.
But I don't have any recent player. Maybe the phone, I can connect it to the car audio system. I can try that.
That was the big issue, really, but w/flac, only need 1 copy now.
When I had flac, I also had mp3. I don't remember the size ratio. 20%? 10%? What about Google Chromecast, does it play flac? Google says yes, via Chrome. <https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/media> FLAC (up to 96kHz/24-bit) Is that Ok? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
