Hi list,
I'm trying to (re)install a multihomed server with many interfaces with SLES (in this case, although my curiosity also applies to openSUSE 12.1). I'm using a network install, specifying network parameters and Autoyast XML file on the kernel command line.
Using the "netdev" parameter, I'm able to specify which interface to use, but the problem is that interfaces don't get the same names across reboots and only one has connection to the install server. I have to try several times until it boots with the correct name/interface association.
Is there a way to specify the interface by MAC address instead of by name?
I often install on machines with multiple NICs - as far as I remember, the installation process will just try one after another until it hits one that works. It'll take a while to skip to a working NIC, but it's only for one installation. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (5.7°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
