On two of my SUSE 10 systems (both Compaqs), I get an error message about powersaved not running, when I log on. However, "rcpowersaved status" shows it is running. Is there any way to stop this message?

I had similar problems. Eventually, someone on the list told me about the fact that there are 2 powersaves (so to speak). There's the powersave package/daemon and the kpowersave package. The powersave package is tightly integrated into kde and if you try to remove it, you get error messages warning you about consequences. You can disable it by going into the runlevel editor and turning it off (sounds like that's what you have done?). It's kpowersave that's giving you that error message. What it's saying is that powersave is not running and you have the kpowersave package installed that's supposed to let you know if there's any problems with powersvae. If you don't need any of the functionality of powersave (it offers some features like slowing down you processor if the system is idle for some period, etc., but if you turned it off, I assume you don't need it) then you don't need kpowersave warning you that it's not running. That was my case. To get rid of that message, you simply need to uninstall the kpowersave package. Once you do that, you will never see that message again. Greg Wallace
