Hello Verdi, I was having the same problem installing Suse 8.0 from the hard disk. I see you managed o install from your laptop (via ftp). I do have another computer connected to mine via LAN (no fixed IPs), could you please tell me how did you do to set up the ftp connection between your machine and the laptop? This is my last hope, cuz everything I did failed so far. Thanks for your help. This is disappointing. I realy believed you would succeed this time :-}.
Hi, yes, at last, by putting the installation source at an ftp site (my laptop), I got the machine the machine run SuSE8. But I got another problem: the perl interpreter is broken. During installation I got the message that package "y2xfer" is not found. I've check Archives.gz, index.gz, and ls-lr.gz, but couldn't found this package. I think this has something to do with broken perl, because the message occur during installing some perl-related packages. As result, I am not able to use sax2 -- and I hate to edit the XF86Config file manually :-((( Many thanks to all (Leen and Ruben).
