So what is to be gained from IPv6 adoption? From my perspective it increases complexity while reducing security and reliability.
Forgot to mention, some people are stuck behind carrier grade NAT. This means they haven't a hope of connecting to their own network, without using some external service. Yet another hack to get around the address shortage.
Yep. In Spain, minor providers use this system, which makes it impossible to connect to your home from outside, directly. Other minor providers switched instead to IPv6 by default. Telefónica, probably the major provider, gave IPv6 on a Beta. I had it for some time. It gleaned that some routers were not ready, for example mine: the firewall was non existent. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from openSUSE 15.5 (Laicolasse))
