Working on my not yet so well supported HP3400c scanner I deleted the sane package in order to reinstall a special sane backend package. That was suggested as the best way to install the new packages for this USB scanner. I have suse 8.0, using KDE. Done accordingly I wanted to go to Yast2 in order to install my scanner which was the way somebody on the list used in order to install his HP5200. The scanner is detected with sane-detect-scanner. In Gimp the scanner is not seen. Using Yast to finalize installation though I get the complaint that in order to install scanners I should install sane first with the offer to start installing sane. That would most probably overwrite my newly installed backend or? Is there a way to let yast recognize the fact that sane is installed? -- NTReader v0.36w(P)/Beta (Registered) in conjunction with Net-Tamer.
