Just one more bit of information. Last time I got sound to work was under RedHat 5.0. That was a horrifying experience for me, so bad that I waited until last Wednesday to try again with S.u.S.E. Compiled the kernel with sound as a module, booted and tried. I wondered why it didn't load any sound modules, so I tried modprobe sound and then the sound worked. It couldn't be much easier. Now with the information about conf.modules posted here (off cours I should have looked there myself, but what the heck) it even autoloads. It was just too easy this time. Only thing left to try is midi. I don't know anything about midi, so I'll look for a midi player. - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
