if you try to remove one of the many kernel-firmware files, it threatens to remove kernel-firmware-all as well.
kernel-firmware-all is a meta-package that bloats installations with most firmware in existence per platform. No system needs more than a few of the packages it causes to install, if any at all. It used to be that all firmware came in one monster package, but someone finally realized the waste that produced and split it into small categorical bundles, any or all of which could be omitted or included as needed. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science.
