Bring up a terminal and su to root, then do a ps -e ps -e will show you all the process that are running and you can issue a kill to the number associated with the process. If X has frozen its probably best to ctrl-alt-F1 to a terminal screen and do it from there. Matt On Mon, 19 Mar 2001, Dan The Man wrote:
Sometimes Linux appears to come unstuck. In windows, I used to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to try to expunge offending applications. I know there must be a linux correlate of this for similar emergencies. Perhaps there are several. Can anyone enlighten me. I know about the Process Management tool, but what if nothing responds to a mouse click. What should I try before hitting the restart button.
I have SuSE 7.1
Thank you.
